Location: Based in a co-working space, Northampton, with some travel across the county.
Target start date: 1st March 2025

Position: Part-time Project Development Worker (secondments may be considered) 
Salary: £29,120 (Full time equivalent)

Reports to: Chair of Trustees

Expected hours: 15 per week

About Young Northants
Young Northants is new collaboration of VCSE organizations, dedicated to supporting and empowering children and young people in Northamptonshire. Our mission is to seek funding and resources that provide educational, mental health, and recreational opportunities to help young individuals thrive and reach their full potential.


Job Purpose

The Project Development Worker will play a crucial role in developing and managing projects that align with the mission and objectives of Young Northants. This position requires a proactive and creative individual who can work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders, and the wider community to grow this fledgling organisation and help strengthen the youth offer for children and young people in Northamptonshire.


Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Generating new opportunities and projects to engage Young Northants’ membership and fulfil the charity’s mission and strategic objectives

  • Effectively planning and executing project activities, ensuring they are delivered to time, quality, and within budget

  • Taking a lead on external communications, website, social media platforms, PR opportunities and events

  • Growing the Young Northants membership

  • Developing and writing grant applications and nurturing good relationships with donors, funders, partners, and key stakeholders

  • Organising the internal operations and administration of the YN Steering Group and Board of Trustees

  • Reporting on project progress, outcomes, and the financial status for internal and external stakeholders

  • Working closely with other team members to ensure projects are integrated and aligned with the overall strategy of Young Northants.

  • Engaging with the community to promote projects and encourage participation from children and young people.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and committed person eager to join our team. The ability to work independently, using your own initiative within a community setting is essential, along with a passion for youth engagement.

You are a skilled communicator, with good literacy skills and an eye for attention to detail, & building good relationships. You’ve probably had experience in third sector communications, project management, or fundraising and are motivated to work for a values and mission driven organisation. You’re adaptable, collaborative, creative and enjoy flexibility and variety in your work.

Requirements

  • Work permitted in the United Kingdom.

Preferred experience

  • Project management, youth work, or community engagement work or working with Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations.

Certifications

  • Enhanced DBS clearance, Youth Work qualifications desirable but not essential.
